Salary Negotiation Coaching

($550 – 60 Minutes)

Secure the Salary You Deserve: You’ve worked hard to get that job offer – now make sure you’re compensated fairly. Our Salary Negotiation Coaching is a focused, power-packed session dedicated to one goal: maximizing your compensation package. Too often, professionals leave money on the table due to hesitation or lack of strategy. We’ll change that by equipping you with the knowledge, scripts, and confidence to negotiate like a pro.

What’s Included in the Session

Compensation Review

We start by reviewing the details of your offer (or expected offer) – base salary, bonuses, equity, benefits, etc. If you don’t have a specific offer yet, we’ll work with realistic target figures for your role and market.

Market Research

Shaloo will guide you through understanding your market value. Drawing on salary databases, industry insights, and your unique qualifications, we’ll identify a reasonable and ambitious salary range to aim for. (Many people, especially those from underrepresented groups, underestimate their market worth – we’ll make sure you have the facts to back up your ask.)

Strategy Development

We formulate a negotiation game plan. This includes deciding what to ask for (higher salary, signing bonus, extra vacation, flexible schedule – whatever is important to you) and in what order. We’ll discuss possible compromises in advance so you know your priorities.

Personalized Script & Role-Play

Perhaps the most valuable part – we craft the exact wording you can use when negotiating with the hiring manager or recruiter. You’ll get scripts for various scenarios: whether you’re responding to an offer email or a live call. Then, we role-play the conversation. Shaloo will play the recruiter; you’ll practice making your ask and responding to pushback. This real-time practice is crucial – it helps you find a confident tone and phrasing. We’ll refine your wording until it feels natural and convincing.

Mindset & Confidence Boost

Negotiation can be nerve-wracking. We address any fears (like “What if they rescind the offer?” – extremely unlikely when done professionally, and we’ll ensure you handle it professionally). By understanding the employer’s perspective and rehearsing, you’ll approach the call with a calm, positive mindset. We empower you to remember that you have leverage at the offer stage – they WANT you – and it’s not only okay to negotiate, it’s expected.

Follow-Up Support

After the session, you’ll receive a written summary of your strategy and key phrases to use. If you have a quick question via email in the midst of your negotiation, we’ll be there to support you. We celebrate with you when you successfully negotiate a better deal!

Why Invest in Negotiation Coaching?

Because even a $5K increase in salary will likely pay back this session many times over. Many clients have negotiated $10K-$30K more in salary or other benefits after our coaching – a life-changing boost in earnings. Beyond the money, you’ll gain a skill that serves you throughout your career. You’ll never again wonder “Could I have gotten more?” because you’ll know how to advocate for yourself confidently.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is not just okay – it’s expected. Professional negotiation done respectfully will not jeopardize your offer. Companies might not always increase the number, but they almost never pull an offer for simply asking. We’ll teach you phrasing that is courteous and collaborative, so you express enthusiasm for the job while making a reasonable request. Negotiating can actually increase the respect your future employer has for you – it shows you know your worth.

That’s a great “problem” to have! We can use the session to strategize across multiple opportunities – for example, leveraging one offer against another. If you’ve already negotiated once and got something improved, we can discuss if there’s room for more. Every situation is unique, but we’ll map out the best course of action. If additional time is needed beyond the hour, we can extend or schedule a follow-up at a prorated rate.

Yes, the principles are similar. We would approach it slightly differently – focusing on your accomplishments in your current role and the value you bring, as well as market benchmarks for your position. Whether it’s an annual review raise or negotiating a promotion’s salary, we can role-play those conversations too. Investing in this coaching for a raise can be immensely worthwhile if it results in a higher increase.

Ideally, before you have the compensation discussion with the employer. If you’re in final interviews and sense an offer is coming, that’s a perfect time. If you already have an offer, schedule a session as soon as possible (typically you’ll have a few days or more to respond to an offer – use one of those for coaching!). Even if you informally discussed salary earlier, it’s not too late to negotiate upon receiving the formal offer. We’ll also cover how to stall politely if you need more time to prepare (“Could I have a couple of days to review the details before we discuss?”).

We prepare for all outcomes. If they can’t budge on base salary, we explore other negotiables: signing bonus, performance bonus, extra paid time off, education reimbursement, relocation assistance, a sooner salary review, better title, etc. There are many ways to sweeten an offer. You’ll know how to graciously accept if the answer is truly a firm no, but only after you’ve explored possibilities. Most importantly, you’ll have peace of mind that you secured the best package possible. And if the negotiation indicates any red flags (rare, but if an employer reacts very negatively), that’s useful information too about the culture – we’ll debrief that if it happens.
